~ The Vidette ~
Gentlemen & Ladies,
The year of 2010 has brought us a very great season. Our Civilian Corp has grown to be quite the group of ladies. Mrs. Pamplin has done an outstanding job in keeping us fed and repairing cloths, and teas. It was my intention when we first formed ranks to make 2ND Kentucky a family based Unit.
Our numbers have shown a continuing growth rate despite our economical trying times. We are still the largest dismounted and mounted combined Unit here on the West coast. I want to thank my staff for filling in the holes since my responsibilities in Brigade command have kept me away from hanging out in camp and visiting with everyone as in the past years. Our existing staff I feel has the RIGHT STUFF and you see it on and off the battle field. We have grown in size but still are able to keep our tightness and close family attitude intact as we had back in the day of the Original 8. By the way there are only 2 left of the original 8.
Other news for thought we are planning another trip to Gettysburg for the 150th in 2013. So save your change and beer money. I have pledges from the other Units in Kanawah's Brigade to attend. You don't want to miss this!
If you haven't attended any of our events this year you need to make a point to attend one soon. I have not remembered the 2nd Kentucky looking this Grand!
I remain at your service,
Lt. Col. Peca
